Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. After making a match mark on universal joint and front transfer flange, separate the propeller shaft (A).

    Tightening torque:

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.1 - 50.6 lb-ft)

    NOTE:
    • Do not reuse bolts.
    • When retightening the propeller shaft mounting bolts after removing them, each bolt and washer must be placed in its original position and bolt insertion direction must be the same as before, so make marks not to allow the bolts and washers to be mixed up before removing the propeller shaft.
    • If the position and direction of the propeller shaft mounting bolts and washers are reversed, it may cause vibration and noise at high vehicle speeds due to imbalance in the propeller shaft.
    • If abnormal vibration and noise occur at high vehicle speeds after replacing propeller shaft with a new one, balance the propeller shaft with a balancing machine.
  2. Loosen the bolts and then separate the center bearing bracket (A).

  3. Make the alignment marks on the rubber coupling of the propeller and companion, and the corresponding marks on the differential carrier, and then remove the propeller shaft.
