Charging System: Troubleshooting: Discharge

Cause Correction
Drive belt loose or worn Replace the drive belt
Replace the auto tensioner
Wiring connection or shorts out the circuit Check the wiring connection and repair or replace the wiring
Alternator main fuse blown Replace the alternator main fuse
Regulator or alternator fault Replace the regulator or alternator
Faulty the ground Check and repair the ground cable
Battery damaged or broken Replace the battery
Parasitic current more than specification Repair or Replace the abnormal part after measuring the parasitic current
Tuning with non-genuine parts Repair with genuine parts
Low state of charge (the lowest voltage) Learn the battery sensor or Replace the battery sensor
Battery wiring Repair or Replace the wiring after checking.
Parasitic current due to failure of main relay control in Engine Control Module (ECM) Inspect or Replace the ECM.
Faulty harness due to moisture Repair or Replace the wiring
Faulty parts related electrical system Replace the electrical system
Parasitic current more than specification due to faulty ECM Inspect or Replace the ECM
Poor alternator connector connection Check the connector connection
