Timing Chain Inspection
- Check the crankshaft sprocket, and teeth for abnormal wear, cracks, and damage then replace it if necessary.
- Check for abnormal wear, cracks, damage, etc. on the chain contact surface of the chain tensioner arm and chain guide, and replace it if necessary.
- Check that the chain tensioner piston slides smoothly and that the ratchet function is working properly. Replace it if necessary.
Good
- Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and Go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
No Good
- Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.
- Refer to TIMING SYSTEM , repair or replace as necessary and then, Go to "VERIFICATION OF REPAIR " procedure.
