Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")

  2. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to Body Electrical System - "BATTERY ")

  3. Disconnect the driven pulley speed sensor connector (A).

  4. Remove the driven pulley speed sensor connector (A) from the bracket.

  5. Separate the wiring clip (A).

  6. Disconnect the position switch connector (A).

  7. Remove the shift cable (A) after removing the nut (B) and bolts (C).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. (B) 9.8 - 13.7 N.m (1.0 - 1.4 kgf.m, 7.2 - 10.1 lb.ft)
    2. (C) 14.7 - 21.6 N.m (1.5 - 2.2 kgf.m, 10.8 - 15.9 lb.ft)

  8. Remove the ground cable (A) after removing the bolt.

    Tightening torque: 

    26.5 - 32.4 N.m (2.7 - 3.3 kgf.m, 19.5 - 23.9 lb.ft)

  9. Disconnect the EOP connector (A).

  10. Separate the wiring clip (A).

    NOTE:
    • If the main connector (A) is exposed to coolant, disconnect the connector after blowing off the coolant completely using the air gun.
    • After detaching the main connector (A), wrap a plastic bag around the connector to prevent coolant from getting into it.
    • If coolant gets into the main connector (A), corrosion may occur inside the connector, thus causing an open/short circuit. In this case, trouble codes and shift failure may also occur.

  12. Separate the wiring clips (A).

  13. Separate the IVTF cooler hoses (A) after releasing the clamps.

  14. Remove the IVT upper bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb.ft)

  15. Remove the starter bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)

  16. Remove the cowl top cover.

    (Refer to Body - "COWL TOP COVER ")

  17. Assemble the engine support fixture on the engine room.

    (Refer to Special Service Tools - "ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE ASSEMBLY DRAWING ")

  18. Remove the engine room under cover.

    (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "ENGINE ROOM UNDER COVER ")

  19. Support the IVT safely on a jack.

  20. Remove the LH front wheel guard.

    (Refer to Body - "FRONT WHEEL GUARD ")

  21. Remove the IVT mounting bracket bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    98.1 - 117.7 N.m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf.m, 72.3 - 86.8 lb.ft)

    NOTE: When tightening the bolts, tighten the lower bolt first before tighten the upper bolt.

  22. Remove the IVT support bracket (A) after removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    58.8 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.9 lb.ft)

  23. Remove the wiring bracket (A) after removing the bolt.

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  24. Remove the driveshaft assembly.

    (Refer to Driveshaft and Axle - "FRONT DRIVESHAFT ")

  25. Remove the roll rod bracket (A) after removing the bolts (B, C).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. (B) 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47 lb.ft)
    2. (C) 107.9 - 127.5 N.m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf.m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb.ft)

  26. Remove the roll rod support bracket (A) after removing the bolts.

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb.ft)

  27. Support the IVT securely using a jack.

  28. Remove the cover (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb.ft)

  29. Remove the torque converter bolts (A) by rotating the crankshaft in clockwise direction.

    Tightening torque: 

    45.1 - 52.0 N.m (4.6 - 5.3 kgf.m, 33.3 - 38.3 lb.ft)

    NOTE:
    • The existing torque converter bolts should be replaced with new one (do not reuse).
    • Lubricate the threads before tightening the torque converter bolts (A).

    • Pre-tighten the all torque converter mounting bolts, then tighten to the specified torque securely.
  30. Remove the exhaust manifold stay (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    39.2 - 49.0 N.m (4.0 - 5.0 kgf.m, 28.9 - 36.2 lb.ft)

  31. Remove the IVT lower bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque 

    1. 42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb.ft)
    2. 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb.ft)

  32. After separating the transmission from the engine, remove the transmission by lowering the jack slowly.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage other nearby systems or parts when removing the transmission assembly.
