Timing Chain: Removal
- Remove the RH and LH cylinder head cover.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "CYLINDER HEAD COVER ")
- Place the piston of No. 1 cylinder at the compression TDC.
- Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise, and align its groove with the timing mark of the timing chain cover.
- Rotate the camshaft so that the timing mark on the camshaft sprocket is in line with the top of the cylinder head to place the No. 1 cylinder at the TDC.
NOTE: Do not rotate engine counterclockwise. - Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise, and align its groove with the timing mark of the timing chain cover.
- Remove the timing chain cover.
(Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN COVER ")
- Remove the oil pump chain tensioner (A).
- Remove the oil pump sprocket (A) and oil pump chain (B).
- Remove the RH timing chain cam to cam guide (A).
- Grab the ratchet clamp (A) and compress the timing chain tensioner in the direction of (B), then install the retaining pin (C).
- Remove the RH timing chain tensioner (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain tensioner arm (A).
- Remove the RH timing chain (A).
- Remove the timing chain guide (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain to cam guide (A).
- Grab the ratchet clamp (A) and compress the timing chain tensioner in the direction of (B), then install the retaining pin (C).
- Remove the LH timing chain tensioner (A) with adapter.
- Remove the LH timing chain tensioner arm (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain (A).
- Remove the LH timing chain guide (A).
