Timing Chain: Removal

Remove the RH and LH cylinder head cover.
(Refer to Cylinder Head Assembly - "CYLINDER HEAD COVER ")

Place the piston of No. 1 cylinder at the compression TDC.

Turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise, and align its groove with the timing mark of the timing chain cover.

Rotate the camshaft so that the timing mark on the camshaft sprocket is in line with the top of the cylinder head to place the No. 1 cylinder at the TDC.

NOTE: Do not rotate engine counterclockwise.

Remove the timing chain cover.
(Refer to Timing System - "TIMING CHAIN COVER ")
Remove the oil pump chain tensioner (A).

Grab the ratchet clamp (A) and compress the timing chain tensioner in the direction of (B), then install the retaining pin (C).
