Power Steering Pump: Installation

  1. Install feed hose to pump. Tighten hose clamp to 27 INCH lbs. (3 N.m).
  2. Install pump into pivot bracket and secure with 3 bolts. Tighten bolts to 26 ft. lbs. (35 N.m).
    3. CAUTION: Ensure high pressure fluid pipe is clear of drive belt and top of steering box.
  3. Install pressure pipe to steering pump. Hold pipe in position tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 N.m).
  4. Install pulley to steering pump. Coat 3 bolts with Loctite and fit fingertight.
  5. Refit and tension steering pump drive belt. See POWER STEERING PUMP DRIVE BELT  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  6. Tighten 3 steering pump pulley bolts to 89 INCH lbs. (10 N.m).
  7. Reverse remaining removal instructions.
  8. Bleed power steering system. See POWER STEERING SYSTEM  under BLEEDING.
