Preliminary Inspection
Perform a comprehensive visual inspection of components which could create an ABS system malfunction.
- Visually inspect all ABS fuses located in engine compartment fuse box. Check maxi-fuse No. 6 (40-amp) and fuse No. 5 (30-amp).
- Visually inspect all ABS fuses located in fascia (instrument panel) fuse box. Check fuses No. 1 (15-amp) and No. 14 (10-amp). Inspect ABS fuses in satellite fuse boxes located on fascia fuse box. Check fuses No. 3 (10-amp) and No. 4 (5-amp).
- Check pump relay, ABS load relay and ABS warning relay. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
- Check wiring and connectors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Check ABS system grounds. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
- Ensure battery is fully charged and terminal connections are clean and tight. Ensure charging system is operating properly.
- Check brakelines and hoses for correct routing and for leaks. See Figure .
- Ensure wheel speed sensors are clean and properly installed. Check hub end play to ensure proper clearance is maintained between exciter ring and wheel speed sensor. See FRONT BRAKE ROTOR or REAR BRAKE ROTOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in DISC article.
