Engine Immobilization: Description: General

The function of the engine immobilization system is to prevent unauthorized starting of the vehicle. The system is controlled by an immobilization ECU which is located beneath the center console, adjacent to the handbrake. Re-mobilization is achieved via a transponder in the vehicle key, which is read by a transponder coil when the ignition switch is turned to the 'auxiliary' position. The transponder coil is mounted around the ignition switch.
