Functional Test

Using jumper wires, connect vacuum actuator terminals No. 1 and 2 to battery positive terminal. See Fig 1. Connect negative battery terminal to terminal No. 3. Slowly apply 12 in. Hg of vacuum to vacuum actuator and ensure control cable is pulled smoothly. Cable stroke should be approximately 1.42" (36 mm).
With 12 in. Hg of vacuum applied to actuator, ensure control cable does not retract. Some vacuum actuator leakage is allowed. Disconnect jumper wire from terminal No. 1, and ensure control cable returns to its original position. See Fig 1. If operation is not as specified, replace vacuum actuator.
