Post-Collision Inspection

If air bags deployed, replace both air bags, center air bag sensor and both front air bag sensors. Replace both seat belt pretensioners. See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION . Check for the following conditions and replace components as necessary. After servicing, perform TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
- Cut, cracked or markedly discolored steering wheel pad top surface, steering wheel pad grooved portion, passenger-side air bag door and center pillar garnish.
- Cut, cracked or chipped connectors or wire harnesses.
- Deformity of horn button contact plate, safety pad at passenger-side air bag, instrument panel reinforcement at passenger-side air bag, center pillar and front air bag sensor bracket.
- Peeling off of label or damage to series number on front air bag sensor.
WARNING:
If horn button contact plate is deformed, never repair it. Instead, replace entire steering wheel assembly. Ensure steering wheel pad does not contact steering wheel. Clearance must be uniform all the way around steering wheel pad.
WARNING:
If safety pad or instrument panel reinforcement at passenger- side air bag is deformed, never repair it. Replace components only. Ensure outer edge of passenger-side air bag does not contact safety pad or glove box door. Clearance must be uniform all the way around passenger-side air bag.
