Steering Linkage: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace tie rod or relay rod ends if necessary. Turn tie rod or relay rod ends in equal amounts into rod tube. Adjust relay rod ends so relay rod length is approximately 42.3" (1076 mm) before installing. Adjust tie rod ends so tie rod length is approximately 47.5" (1207 mm) before installing.
  2. Remaining length on tie rod or relay rod ends should be equal. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Adjust front wheel alignment. See WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT section.
