Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

If speedometer operates, VSS is okay. If speedometer does not operate, disconnect electrical connector from VSS. Ensure battery voltage exists at terminal No. 1 (Red/Blue wire). Remove VSS. Connect battery positive lead to VSS terminal No. 1 (Red/Blue wire) and negative lead to terminal No. 2 (Pink wire). See Fig 1.
While rotating VSS gear, measure voltage between terminals No. 2 (negative lead) and No. 3 (positive lead) (Blue wire). Replace VSS if voltage does not alternate between zero and 12 volts, 4 times per revolution.
