Steering Column: Reassembly

NOTE: When replacing a tilt slider assembly with a new one, verify nut is facing down toward floor.

To assemble, reverse disassembly procedure. Replace tube attachment if deformed. Ensure column tube support is facing correct direction. Install 2 new plates and 4 bolts when replacing tilt slider assembly. While holding support, tighten column tube support bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Using NEW bolts, tighten column upper bracket tapered head bolts until bolt head breaks off. Ensure alignment marks on No. 2 intermediate shaft assembly and tilt steering gear assembly are aligned. Tighten No. 2 intermediate shaft assembly bolt to specification.
