Test No. 6

NOTE: Test procedure is based on the assumption that taillights operate properly using headlight switch, but will not operate with anti-theft system.

  1. Check Voltage At Terminal No. 11 At Anti-Theft System Electronic Control Unit (ECU)

Access anti-theft system ECU. Anti-theft system ECU is located behind glove box and uses a 12-pin and a 22-pin harness connector. See Figure.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect harness connectors at anti-theft system ECU. Check voltage between ground and terminal No. 11 (Green/Black wire) at anti-theft 12-pin harness connector. See Fig 1. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. If voltage does not exist, go next step. If battery voltage exists, replace anti-theft system ECU. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM ECU  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Check for defective harness connectors and Green/Black wire between terminal No. 11 at theft control ECU, changing to Sky Blue wire and back to Green/Black wire at taillight control relay. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Taillight control relay is located in driver's side fuse/relay box located near left side kick panel. See Figure. Repair harness connectors and wiring as necessary. To check taillight relay, see TAILLIGHT RELAY  under COMPONENT TESTS.
