Test K: Multi-Information Display Screen Does Not Change When Steering Pad Switch Is Operated

  1. Check the combination meter assembly:
    • Check the voltage. Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector still connected. See Fig 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Measure the voltage between terminal No. C8-18 of the combination meter assembly connector and body ground. See COMBINATION METER STANDARD VOLTAGE  table. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .

      Condition Voltage
      MODE Switch Is Pressed Zero
MODE Switch Is Not Pressed 5
      RESET Switch Is Pressed 2.5
RESET Switch Is Not Pressed 5
    • If the voltage is OK, check and replace the combination meter assembly. See COMBINATION METER SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the voltage is not OK, go to the next step.
  2. Inspect the steering pad switch:
    • Remove the steering pad switch. Check the resistance between terminals +DP and -DP of the steering pad switch connector. See STEERING PAD SWITCH RESISTANCE  table. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION .
      STEERING PAD SWITCH RESISTANCE

      Switch Condition Resistance
MODE Switch Is Pressed Below 1 Ω
MODE Switch Is Not Pressed OPEN
RESET Switch Is Pressed 2.2 kΩ
RESET Switch Is Not Pressed OPEN
    • If the resistance is OK, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector. If the resistance is not OK, replace the steering pad switch. See step  5 of COMBINATION METER SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
