Section 160 (Stop Light System): Inspection

- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH CONTINUITY STOP LIGHT SWITCH CONTINUITY CONDITIONS
Switch position Tester connection Specified condition Switch pin free 1 - 2 Continuity Switch pin pushed in 3 - 4 Continuity If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT
Disconnect the connector from the switch and inspect the connector on the wire harness side.

STOP LIGHT SWITCH WIRE HARNESS SIDE CONNECTOR INSPECTING CONDITIONSTester connection Condition Specified condition 2 - Ground Constant Battery positive voltage If circuit is not as specified, inspect the power source or wire harness.
- INSPECT HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONTINUITY
Using the ohmmeter, check that continuity exists between terminals.
If continuity is not as specified, replace the bulb or light assembly.
- INSPECT HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT
Disconnect the connector from the switch and inspect the connector on the wire harness side.
HIGH-MOUNTED STOP LIGHT WIRE HARNESS SIDE CONNECTOR INSPECTING CONDITIONSTester connection Condition Specified condition 1 - Ground Constant Battery positive voltage If circuit is not as specified, inspect the power source or wire harness.
- INSPECT LIGHT FAILURE SENSOR CIRCUIT
Disconnect the connector from the sensor and inspect the connector on the wire harness side.

If the circuit is as specified, replace the sensor.
If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.
