Inspection Procedure

  1. CONFIRM ENGINE MODELS 
    1. Confirm the engine models.

  2. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY 

    INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE 

    1. Check the input signal waveform.
      1. Remove the combination meter assy.
      2. Connect the oscilloscope to the terminals C7-35 and body ground.
      3. Start the engine.

      4. Check the signal waveform according to the condition in SIGNAL WAVEFORM  .
      SIGNAL WAVEFORM

      Item Condition
      Tool setting 5 V/DIV, 20 ms/DIV
      Vehicle condition Driving at approx. 20Km/h

      Standard: 

      As shown in the illustration 

    HINT:

    As the vehicle speed increases, the cycle of the signal waveform narrows.

    Result:

    1. B: Go to step   3 
    2. C: Go to step   4 
    3. A: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
  3. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY 
    1. Check voltage.
      1. Shift the shift lever to neutral.
      2. Jack up either of the front wheel.
      3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      4. Measure voltage between terminals S9-2 of the skid control ECU assy and body ground when the front wheel is turning slowly.

      Standard voltage: 

      Voltage is generated intermittently.

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
  4. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 
    1. Check voltage.
      1. Shift the shift lever to neutral.
      2. Jack up either of the front wheel.
      3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      4. TMC Made:

        Measure voltage between terminals S1-26 of ABS & Traction actuator assy and body ground when the front wheel is turning slowly.

      5. TMMK Made:

        Measure voltage between terminals S1-10 of ABS & Traction actuator assy and body ground when the front wheel turning slowly.

      Standard voltage: 

      Voltage is generated intermittently.

    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
  5. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY 

    INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE 

    1. Check the input signal waveform.
      1. Remove the combination meter assy.
      2. Connect the oscilloscope to the terminals C7-35 and body ground.
      3. Start the engine.

      4. Check the signal waveform according to the condition in SIGNAL WAVEFORM  .

    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  6. INSPECT SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Check voltage.
      1. Shift the shift lever to neutral.
      2. Jack up either of the front wheel.
      3. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
      4. Measure voltage between terminals 3 and 2 of speed sensor when the front wheel is turning slowly.

      Standard voltage: 

      Voltage is generated intermittently.
