Section 400 (Inner Rear View Mirror Assembly): Inspection

HINT:

EC mirror stands for electrochromic mirror.

  1. w/ EC mirror: INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY 
    1. Inspect operation of the electrochromic inner rear view mirror.
      1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 6 and the battery's negative (-) lead to terminal 7.

      2. Attach black colored tape to the forward sensor to prevent it from sensing.
      3. Light up the mirror with an electric light, and check that the mirror surface changes from bright to dark.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.

  2. w/ EC mirror: INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Apply battery voltage to the mirror and check operation of the mirror face, as shown in STANDARD TABLE  and Fig 2 .

      Standard: 

      STANDARD TABLE

      Measurement Condition Mirror Operation
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 10 (EC+)
      Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 9 (EC-)
      Mirror surface changes to dark

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.

  3. w/ EC mirror: INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY RH 
    1. Disconnect the mirror connector.
    2. Apply battery voltage to the mirror and check operation of the mirror face, as shown in STANDARD TABLE  and Fig 3 .

      Standard: 

      STANDARD TABLE

      Measurement Condition Mirror Operation
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 10 (EC+)
      Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 9 (EC-)
      Mirror surface changes to dark

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
