Description & Operation: Introduction

The U150E transaxle is a 5-speed electronically controlled transaxle. Transaxle uses a lock-up torque converter, forward clutch, reverse clutch, underdrive clutch, overdrive direct clutch, underdrive brake, 1st and reverse brake, 3 planetary gears, 2nd brake, 2 one-way clutches, and hydraulic and electronic control systems. See Fig 1.

A gate type gearshift lever is used in conjunction with the 5-speed transaxle. Gearshift lever button and overdrive switch have been discontinued. Overdrive is only available when gearshift lever is in "D" position. Transaxle can be upshifted or downshifted using gearshift lever. For gearshift pattern, see Fig 2.
