Seat Heater System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH CONTINUITY 
    SEAT HEATER SWITCH CONTINUITY

    Switch position Tester connection Specified condition
    Right side 3-4-6 Continuity
    OFF - No continuity
    Left side 2-4-6 Continuity
    Illumination circuit 1-5 Continuity
    If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
  2. INSPECT SEAT HEATER INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 6 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
    2. Push the seat heater switch Right or Left side and check that the indicator light lights up.

    If operation is not as specified, replace the switch and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.

  3. INSPECT SEAT HEATER CUSHION CONTINUITY 
    1. Heat the thermostat with a light.
    2. Inspect the seat heater cushion continuity between terminals, as shown.

    SEAT HEATER CUSHION CONTINUITY

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    A2 - B1 Constant Continuity
    A1 - A2 Seat heater temperature below 25 °C(77 °F) Continuity
    B1 - B2 Seat heater temperature above 45 °C(113 °F) No continuity
    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat cushion pad.
  4. INSPECT SEAT HEATER CUSHION CONTINUITY 

    Inspect the seat heater inner cushion and front cushion continuity between terminals, as shown.

    SEAT HEATER CUSHION CONTINUITY

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 - Body ground Seat heater switch ON Battery positive voltage
    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat back pad.
  5. INSPECT SEAT BACK CONTINUITY 

    Inspect the seat back continuity between terminals, as shown.

    SEAT BACK CONTINUITY

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    2 - Body ground Constant Continuity
    If continuity is not as specified, replace the seat back pad.
