Front Seat: Overhaul

CAUTION:
  • Wear safety gloves, because the cutting surface of the seatback frame and seat adjuster may injure your hand. 
  • Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.) 

HINT:

  1. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the headrest.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the 4 seat track covers.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
    4. Disconnect the connectors under the seat.
    5. Remove the 4 bolts and seat assy.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body. 
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 reclining power seat switch knobs.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 5 screws.
    3. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and remove the cushion shield together with inner No. 1 LH, and then disconnect the connector.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    4. Remove the 2 screws and lumbar support switch.

  3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO. 1 LH 
    1. Remove the screw and cushion shield.
  4. REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Remove the 3 screws and power seat switch.
  5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the nut and the belt assy.
  6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH 
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and clip and remove the cushion shield.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  7. REMOVE SEAT TRACK UPPER RAIL COVER RH 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the upper rail cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  8. REMOVE SEAT TRACK UPPER RAIL COVER LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described above for the RH side.

  9. REMOVE SEAT TRACK UPPER RAIL COVER LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described above for the RH side.

  10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT LEG COVER NO. 1 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the front seat leg cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT LEG COVER LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described above for the cover No. 1.

  12. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Disengage the hook, and remove the seat cushion cover together with the pad.
    2. Remove the hog rings and seat cushion cover.
  13. REMOVE ARMREST ASSY 
    1. Remove the cap.
    2. Remove the bolt and armrest assy.
  14. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and seatback board.
    2. w/Side airbag:

      Remove the hog rings, nut and seatback cover bracket.

    3. Remove the 2 headrest supports.

    4. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover together with the pad.
    5. Remove the hog rings and seatback cover.
  15. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR 
    1. Remove the screw and the airbag sensor.
  16. REMOVE POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (RECLINING) 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and reclining motor.
  17. REMOVE POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (SLIDE) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and slide motor.
  18. REMOVE POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (LIFTER) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and lifter motor.
  19. REMOVE POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (FRONT VERTICAL) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and front vertical motor.
  20. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ADJUSTER SUB-ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and lumbar support adjuster assy.
    2. Remove the wire harness connector.
    3. Remove the 3 screws and 2 reclining adjuster inside covers LH.
    4. Remove the 3 screws and 2 reclining adjuster inside covers RH.
    5. Remove the screw and vertical adjuster bracket cover outer.
    6. Remove the screw and vertical adjuster bracket cover inner.
  21. INSTALL POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (RECLINING) 
    1. Install the reclining motor with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf) 

  22. INSTALL POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (SLIDE) 
    1. install the slide motor with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 

      Bolt: 2.0 N.m (20 kgf.cm, 18 in.lbf) 

      Nut: 4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf) 

  23. INSTALL POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (LIFTER) 
    1. Install the lifter motor with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 

      Bolt: 2.5 N.m (25 kgf.cm, 22 in.lbf) 

      Nut: 25 N.m (255 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

  24. INSTALL POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY (FRONT VERTICAL) 
    1. Install the front vertical motor with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 

      Bolt: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf) 

      Nut: 25 N.m (255 kgf.cm, 18 ft.lbf) 

  25. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR 
    1. Install the airbag sensor with the screw.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) 

  26. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT BACK COVER 
    1. Install the lumbar support adjuster assembly with the 2 screws.
    2. Install the seatback pad.
    3. Cover the top of the seatback pad with the seatback cover.
    4. Install the 2 headrest supports.
    5. Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover completely with new hog rings.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
      • When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.

    6. w/ Side airbag:

      Install the seatback cover bracket with the nut.

      Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

    7. w/ Side airbag:

      Install the wire harness and clamp of the side airbag through the seat cushion cover end.

      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the cover.

    8. Install the seatback board with the 2 screws.
  27. INSTALL ARMREST ASSY 
    1. Install the armrest assy with the bolt.

      Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    2. Install the cap.
  28. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER 
    1. Install the seat cushion pad to the seat cushion cover.
    2. Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover with new hog rings to the seat cushion pad.
      NOTE:
      • Be careful not to damage the cover. 
      • When installing the hog rings, take care to prevent wrinkles as much as possible.

  29. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Install the inner belt assy with the nut.

      Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors.
    3. Check that the inner seat belt moves smoothly.
  30. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSY LH 
    1. Place the seat in the cabin.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body. 
    2. Connect the connectors under the seat.
    3. Install the seat assy with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 37 N.m (375 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the 4 seat track covers.
    5. Install the headrest.
  31. INSPECT POWER SEAT OPERATION (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )
