Valve Body Assembly: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove drain plug with gasket and drain automatic transmission fluid.
  3. Remove oil pan. See DRAINING & REFILLING  under LUBRICATION.
  4. Remove oil filter. See DRAINING & REFILLING  under LUBRICATION.
  5. Remove solenoid valve wiring with ATF temperature sensor using the following steps:
    1. Disconnect 7 connectors from solenoid valves.
    2. Remove 2 bolts and temperature sensor clamps from valve body. See Figure.
    3. Disconnect ATF temperature sensors.
  6. Remove valve body assembly using the following steps:
    1. Remove 19 bolts to remove valve body. See Figure.
    2. Remove 3 drum seal gaskets.
  7. Remove solenoid valves using the following steps:
    1. Remove 2 bolts and solenoid valve SR.
    2. Remove 2 bolts and solenoid valves S1 and S2.
    3. Remove 2 bolts, 2 lock plates, and 4 straight pins. See Figure.
    4. Remove solenoid valves SL2 and SLU.
    5. Remove solenoid valves SL1 and SLT.
