Automatic Light Control System

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

When headlight switch is in AUTO position, automatic light control system automatically illuminates headlights and/or headlights, parking lights, taillights, license plate lights, side marker and instrument panel lights depending on light availability surrounding the vehicle, as detected by the automatic light control sensor. The automatic light control sensor is mounted on the left top side of the instrument panel. If headlights illuminate too early or too late, system sensitivity can be adjusted. See AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR  under ADJUSTMENTS. The automatic light control system is monitored by the multiplex communication system. See MULTIPLEX CONTROL SYSTEMS - AVALON article under COMMUNICATION DEVICES in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
