WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Toyota Avalon. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. To install light control switch, reverse removal procedure. Adjust spiral cable. See SPIRAL CABLE  under ADJUSTMENTS. Install steering wheel. Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure steering wheel is centered.
  2. After steering wheel and steering wheel pad are installed, ensure proper operation of air bag system by turning ignition switch to ACC or ON position. AIR BAG warning light should illuminate for about 6 seconds. If AIR BAG warning light remains illuminated for more than 6 seconds, air bag system is malfunctioning and needs repair.
  3. Turn ignition switch off. If AIR BAG warning light illuminates with ignition switch off, a short circuit may be present in AIR BAG warning light circuit.
  4. Perform steering angle sensor zero point calibration. See STEERING ANGLE ZERO POINT CALIBRATION  under ADJUSTMENTS.
