Section 832 (Front Door): Adjustment

HINT:

  1. INSPECT FRONT DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY LH 
    1. Check that the clearance is within the standard range.

      Standard: 

      STANDARD RANGE SPECIFICATION

      A 8.0 +/- 1.5 mm (0.315 +/- 0.059 in.) C 4.0 +/- 1.5 mm (0.157 +/- 0.059 in.)
      B 2.5 +/- 1.5 mm (0.098 +/- 0.059 in.) D 4.0 +/- 1.5 mm (0.157 +/- 0.059 in.)
  2. ADJUST FRONT DOOR PANEL SUB-ASSY LH 
    1. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
      CAUTION: Work must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds of disconnecting the negative (-) terminal battery and turning the ignition switch to the LOOK position, the SRS may deploy.)
    2. Using SST, adjust the door horizontally and vertically by loosening the body side hinge bolts.

      SST 09812-00010, 09812-00020

    3. Tighten the body side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

      Torque: 32.5 N.m (332 kgf.cm, 24 ft.lbf)

    4. As shown in the illustration, horizontally and vertically adjust the door by loosening the door side hinge bolts.
    5. Tighten the door side hinge bolts after the adjustment.

      Torque: 26 N.m (265 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf)

    6. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    7. Adjust the striker position by slightly loosening the striker mounting screws and hitting the striker with a plastic-faced hammer.
    8. Tighten the striker mounting screws after the adjustment.

      Torque: 23 N.m (235 kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf) 

    9. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
    10. Initialize both systems (see INITIALIZATION ).
    11. Inspect the SRS warning lamp (see AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE ).
