Inspection Procedure

HINT: 

Start the inspection from step  1 in the case of using the hand-held tester, and start from step  2 in the case of not using the hand-held tester.

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and push the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the hand-held tester.

    BODY NO. 1: 

    DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE (BODY NO. 1)

    DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE (BACK DOOR)

    1. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT COURTESY LAMP SWITCH 
    1. Inspect each of the courtesy lamp switch continuity (See INSPECTION ).
    1. NG: REPLACE COURTESY LAMP SWITCH 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. INSPECT BACK DOOR LOCK ASSY 
    1. Inspect the courtesy lamp switch terminal of the back door lock assy (See INSPECTION ).
    1. NG: REPLACE BACK DOOR LOCK ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Disconnect the 1P, B7 and B9 connector from the instrument panel junction block assy.
    2. Check the continuity between each of the terminals of instrument panel junction block assy connector side and body ground as shown in Fig 1 .

      Standard:

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BACK DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure voltage between the terminal B7-25 of the multiplex network body ECU and body ground.

      Standard: 

      MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      B7-25 - Body ground Back door is open Below 1 V
      B7-25 - Body ground Back door is closed 10 to 14 V

    1. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  6. CONFIRM VEHICLE MODELS 
    1. Check the vehicle models.

      A: w/o Power back door

      B: w/ Power back door

    1. A: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. B: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  7. INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM 
    1. Inspect the power back door circuit (See POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM ).
    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM 
    2. OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
