Hand-held tester:

  1. Connect hand held tester, and check operation of VSV for ACIS. 

    PREPARATION: 

    1. Connect the hand held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the hand held tester.

    CHECK: 

    Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the hand held tester.

    OK: 

    VSV is ON: 

    Air from port E flows out through port F. 

    VSV is OFF: 

    Air from port E flows out through air filter. 

    1. OK: Check for vacuum tank (See  INSPECTION  ).  
    2. NG: Go to Next Step 
  2. Check VSV for ACIS (See  INSPECTION  ).  
    1. NG: Replace VSV for ACIS. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. Check for open and short in harness and connector between EFI main relay (Marking: EFI) and ECM (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC CHART AND INSPECTION PROCEDURE  ).  
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. Check vacuum hose. 

    CHECK: 

    1. Check that the vacuum hoses are connected correctly.
    2. Check that the vacuum hoses are not loose or disconnected.
    3. Check the vacuum hoses for cracks, holes or damages.
    1. NG: Repair or replace vacuum hose. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. Check intake air control valve (See  INSPECTION  ).  
    1. NG: Replace intake air control system. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 

      Replace ECM (See  ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM)  ).
