Electro Chromic Mirror System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT ELECTRO CHROMIC INNER MIRROR OPERATION 
    1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and the battery negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
    2. Connect the voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the voltmeter negative (-) lead to terminal 3.
    3. Attach a black colored tape to the forward sensor to prevent it from sensing.
    4. When the mode is turned to AUTO, check that indicator light comes on.
    5. Light up the mirror with an electric light, and check that there is a battery positive voltage and the mirror surface changes "bright" to "dark".

      If the operation is not as specified, replace the inner mirror.

  2. INSPECT ELECTRO CHROMIC INNER MIRROR CIRCUIT 

    Disconnect the connector from the mirror and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown in Fig 2 .

    TESTER CONDITION SPECIFICATION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    4 - Ground Always Continuity
    1 - Ground Ignition switch LOCK or ACC No voltage
    1 - Ground Ignition switch ON Battery positive voltage

    If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.

  3. INSPECT ELECTRO CHROMIC OUTER MIRROR OPERATION 
    1. Disconnect the outer mirror connector.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the dry cell battery to terminal 2 and its negative (-) lead to terminal 3, then check that the mirror surface changes to "dark".
    3. Check the mirror turns to "bright" after disconnecting the battery.

      If the operation is not as specified, replace the mirror assembly.
