Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Lexus RX 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Identify the connector to be checked by its color of the wire and shape of the junction on the CAN J/C because the locations of the connectors to the CAN J/C are confusing.

  1. CHECK DLC3 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    B: REPAIR OR REPLACE DLC3 BRANCH WIRE OR CONNECTOR (CAN-H, CAN-L) 

    A: Go to Next Step 

  2. INSPECT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR (CAN J/C1) 
    1. Disconnect the CAN main bus wire connector (J27) from the wiring harness connector (CAN J/C1).
      NOTE:
      • When disconnecting, check the location of each connector.
      • When connecting, make sure that each connector is connected properly.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION TABLE

      Between the terminals where the connector was connected Condition Specified value
      CANH - CANL Ignition switch off 108 to 132 Ω

    NG: REPLACE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR (CAN J/C1) 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  3. INSPECT WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR (CAN J/C2) 
    1. Reconnect the CAN main bus wire connector (J27) to the wiring harness connector (CAN J/C1).

    2. Disconnect the CAN main bus wire connector (J43) from the wiring harness connector (CAN J/C2).
      NOTE:
      • When disconnecting, check the location of each connector.
      • When connecting, make sure that each connector is connected properly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value in the table below.

    NG: REPLACE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR (CAN J/C2) 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BUS MAIN WIRE OR CONNECTOR (CAN-H, CAN-L)
