Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester, and start from step 2 when not using the hand-held tester.

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and press the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the hand-held tester.

      HEAD LIGHT SW Head light control SW signal/ON or OFF ON: Light control switch is in HEAD position -
      HEAD LIGHT SW Head light control SW signal/ON or OFF OFF: Light control switch is in except HEAD position -
      TAIL LIGHT SW Taillight SW signal/ ON or OFF ON: Light control switch is in TAIL or HEAD position -
      TAIL LIGHT SW Taillight SW signal/ ON or OFF OFF: Light control switch is in OFF position -
    1. NG: Go to step 2. 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
  2. INSPECT HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Inspect the headlamp dimmer switch assy (See REPLACEMENT ).
    1. NG: REPLACE HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY (See  HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSY  ) 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      B4-16 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> AUTO 10 to 14 V --> Below 1 V
      B4-17 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> TAIL 10 to 14 V --> Below 1 V
      B4-22 - Body ground Front fog lamp switch OFF --> ON 10 to 14 V --> Below 1 V
      B4-23 - Body ground Light control switch OFF --> HEAD 10 to 14 V --> Below 1 V

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
