Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and press the intelligent tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the item below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check that the relay operates.

      BODY

    NG: Go to step   2 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

  2. INSPECT FUSE 
    1. Inspect the FR FOG fuse and TAIL fuse in the instrument panel junction block assembly.

      Resistance: 

      Below 1 Ω 

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  3. INSPECT RELAY 
    1. Inspect fog light relay continuity.
      1. Remove the fog light relay from the instrument panel J/B assembly.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester connection Condition Specified resistance
        3 - 5 Always 10 kΩ or higher
        3 - 5 Apply B+ between the terminal 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
    2. Inspect tail relay continuity.
      1. Remove the tail relay from the instrument panel J/B assembly.
      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Resistance 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester connection Condition Specified resistance
        3 - 5 Always 10 kΩ or higher
        3 - 5 Apply B+ between the terminal 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE RELAY 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  4. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      1A-1 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (BATTERY - INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY) 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  5. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      1C-1 - Body ground Light control switch TAIL and Front fog light switch OFF → ON Below 1 V → 10 to 14 V
      1D-5 - Body ground Light control switch TAIL and Front fog light switch OFF → ON Below 1 V → 10 to 14 V

    NG: Go to step   6 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  6. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      1L-3 - Body ground Light control switch OFF → TAIL Below 1 V → 10 to 14 V

    NG: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

    OK: Go to Next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      1L-4 - Body ground Light control switch OFF → TAIL Below 1 V → 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  8. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      1I-8 - Body ground Light control switch OFF → TAIL Below 1 V → 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY 

    OK: Go to Next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK) 
    1. Disconnect the B7 connector of multiplex network body ECU and the 1I connector of the instrument panel junction block assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
