Center Stop Lamp ASSY: Replacement

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSIST GRIP (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  4. REMOVE CENTER STOP LAMP ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the tape and 2 nuts.

    3. Apply protective tape to the vehicle body around the center stop lamp.

    4. Using a heat light, heat the center stop lamp.
    5. Tie both piano wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
    6. Cut through the double-sided tape by pulling the piano wire as shown in Fig 2.
      NOTE:
      • If reusing the center stop lamp, take care not to damage the center stop lamp.
      • Do not damage the body.
    7. Remove the center stop lamp.
  5. INSTALL CENTER STOP LAMP ASSY 
    1. Clean the vehicle body surface.
      1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
      3. Wipe off stains with cleaner.
      4. Remove the double-sided tape from center stop lamp.
      5. Wipe off stains with cleaner.
    2. Install the molding.
      1. Apply new double-sided tape to the center stop lamp as shown in Fig 3.
      2. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and center stop lamp.
      3. Install the center stop lamp with the 2 nuts.

  6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See  INITIALIZATION  ) 
    NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
