Center Stop Lamp ASSY: Replacement

- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- When replacing the stop lamp, heat the body and stop lamp using a heat light.
Heating temperature:
HEATING TEMPERATURE SPECIFICATIONSItem Temperature Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F) Stop lamp 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F) NOTE: Do not heat the body and stop lamp excessively.
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSIST GRIP (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE CENTER STOP LAMP ASSY
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the tape and 2 nuts.
- Apply protective tape to the vehicle body around the center stop lamp.
- Using a heat light, heat the center stop lamp.
- Tie both piano wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
- Cut through the double-sided tape by pulling the piano wire as shown in Fig 2.NOTE:
- If reusing the center stop lamp, take care not to damage the center stop lamp.
- Do not damage the body.
- Remove the center stop lamp.
- INSTALL CENTER STOP LAMP ASSY
- Clean the vehicle body surface.
- Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
- Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
- Wipe off stains with cleaner.
- Remove the double-sided tape from center stop lamp.
- Wipe off stains with cleaner.
- Install the molding.
- Apply new double-sided tape to the center stop lamp as shown in Fig 3.
- Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and center stop lamp.
- Install the center stop lamp with the 2 nuts.
- Clean the vehicle body surface.
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See INITIALIZATION
) NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
