NOTE: When replacing the ABS and TRACTION actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS  ).

HINT:

The SLIP indicator light comes on when the traction OFF switch is ON (2WD only).

  1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Display (DTC Output) Proceed To
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

      B : REPAIR CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

      A : GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. INSPECT MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if the multiplex communication system DTC is output (See DTC CHECK / CLEAR ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Display (DTC Output) Proceed To
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

      B : REPAIR MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 

      A : GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. INSPECT IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED 
    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

      OK: 

      The connector should be securely connected. 

      NG : CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY 

      OK : Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT BATTERY 
    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Voltage: 

      11 to 14 V 

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed To
      OK (2WD) A
      OK (4WD) B
      NG C

      B : Go to step   8 

      C : INSPECT CHARGING SYSTEM 

      A : GO TO NEXT STEP 

  5. INSPECT TRACTION OFF SWITCH 
    1. Remove the traction OFF switch.
    2. Disconnect the traction OFF switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L77-3 - L77-4 Pressed Below 1 Ω
      L77-3 - L77-4 Not pressed 10 kΩ or higher

      NG : REPLACE TRACTION OFF SWITCH

      OK : Go to next step 

  6. INSPECT TRACTION OFF SWITCH (GROUND CIRCUIT) 
    1. Disconnect the traction OFF switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      L77-4 - Body ground Below 1 Ω

      NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT)

      OK : Go to next step 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU TO TRACTION OFF SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector and the traction OFF switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A6-43 (CSW) - L77-3 Below 1 Ω
      A6-43 (CSW) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

      NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (CSW CIRCUIT)

      OK : Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check the combination meter assembly (See REMOVAL ).

      HINT:

      If troubleshooting has been carried out according to the problem symptoms table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing the part (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ).

      NG : REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 

      OK : REPLACE ABS AND TRACTION ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY
