Inspection Procedure

CHECK BACK-UP LIGHT
1. Move the shift lever to the R position.
2. Check the back-up light.
  OK: The back-up light ON.
  
  NG: GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM
  
  OK: Go to Next Step

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - NAVIGATION ECU AND BATTERY)

Disconnect the P1 switch connector.
Disconnect the N8 ECU connector.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance

PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - NAVIGATION ECU AND BATTERY RESISTANCE

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
P1-1 (RL) - N8-20 (REV)	Always	Below 1 Ω
P1-1 (RL) - Body ground	Always	10 kΩ or higher

Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage

PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - NAVIGATION ECU AND BATTERY VOLTAGE

Tester Connection	Switch Condition	Specified Condition
P1-2 (RB) - Body ground	Ignition switch ON, shift lever in R position	11 to 14 V
P1-2 (RB) - Body ground	Ignition switch ON, shift lever in P position	Below 1 V

NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK: Go to Next Step

INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

Disconnect the P1 switch connector.

Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance

PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

Tester Connection	Switch Condition	Specified Condition
P1-1 (RL) - P1-2 (RB)	Shift lever in R position	Below 1 Ω
P1-1 (RL) - P1-2 (RB)	Shift lever in P position	10 kΩ or higher

NG: REPLACE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH

OK: PROCEED TO NEXT INSPECTION PROCEDURE SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
