Inspection Procedure
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was LEAN or RICH, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
- INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSY (THROTTLE ACTUATOR RESISTANCE)
- Disconnect the throttle actuator connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals 1 and 2 of the throttle actuator.
Standard: 0.3 to 100 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
- NG: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (THROTTLE BODY ASSY - ECM)
- Disconnect the T26 throttle actuator connector.
- Disconnect the E2 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONSTester Connection Specified Condition T26-1 - E2-1 (M-) Below 1 ohms T26-2 - E2-2 (M+) Below 1 ohms T26-1 or E2-1 (M-) - Body ground 10 k ohms or higher T26-2 or E2-2 (M+) - Body ground 10 k ohms or higher
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSY
- Check the throttle body assy for foreign objects.
OK: No foreign objects between the throttle valve and the housing.
- NG: REMOVE FOREIGN OBJECT AND CLEAN THROTTLE BODY
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check the throttle body assy for foreign objects.
- INSPECT THROTTLE VALVE
- Check if the throttle valve can open and close smoothly.
OK: Throttle valve can move smoothly.
- NG: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSY (See REPLACEMENT )
- OK: REPLACE ECM (See REPLACEMENT )
- Check if the throttle valve can open and close smoothly.
