Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement

HINT:

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent the airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the front seat assembly (see OVERHAUL ).
    2. Remove the front seat cushion inner shield (see OVERHAUL ).
    3. Remove the nut and front seat inner belt.
  3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  4. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE COVER (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  5. REMOVE WIND DEFLECTOR BOARD ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  6. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  7. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  9. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSY LH (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  10. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSY FRONT LH 
    1. Remove the anchor's built-in bolt from the main floor side member.

    2. Using a screwdriver, pry out the front seat belt hole cover.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Remove the 6 screws and clip.

    4. Using a screwdriver, pry out the quarter trim panel.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  11. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Remove the anchor's built-in bolt from the center body pillar inner.
    2. Disconnect the pretensioner connector.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and outer belt.

  12. INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH 
    NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
    1. Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
      1. When the inclination of the retractor is 15° or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over 45°, check that the belt locks.

        If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.

    2. Install the retractor with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 

      7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) for upper side 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for lower side 

    3. Install the seat belt anchor's built-in bolt to the center body pillar inner.

      Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    4. Install the seat belt anchor's built-in bolt to the main floor side member.

      Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 

    5. After installing the ELR, check the ELR.
      NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt installed.
      1. With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.

        If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.

  13. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) 
  14. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  15. PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See  INITIALIZATION  ) 
    NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
