Front Seat Belt With PRETENSIONER: Replacement
HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt table (see SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent the airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
- REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE COVER (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE WIND DEFLECTOR BOARD ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST PLATE (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSY (See OVERHAUL )
- REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSY LH (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE QUARTER TRIM PANEL ASSY FRONT LH
- Remove the anchor's built-in bolt from the main floor side member.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the front seat belt hole cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the 6 screws and clip.
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the quarter trim panel.

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH
- Remove the anchor's built-in bolt from the center body pillar inner.
- Disconnect the pretensioner connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and outer belt.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH NOTE: Do not disassemble the retractor.
- Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
- When the inclination of the retractor is 15° or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over 45°, check that the belt locks.
If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.
- When the inclination of the retractor is 15° or less, check that the belt can be pulled from the retractor. When the inclination of the retractor is over 45°, check that the belt locks.
- Install the retractor with the 2 bolts.
Torque:
7.5 N.m (77 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf) for upper side 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf) for lower side
- Install the seat belt anchor's built-in bolt to the center body pillar inner.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Install the seat belt anchor's built-in bolt to the main floor side member.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- After installing the ELR, check the ELR.NOTE: The check should be performed with the outer belt installed.
- With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
If operation is not as specified, replace the seat belt assy.
- With the belt installed, check that the belt locks when it is pulled out quickly.
- Before installing the ELR, check the ELR.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See INITIALIZATION
) NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
