Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK OPERATION 
    1. Check that the windshield wiper switch can operate the wipers.

      OK: 

      Windshield wiper switch can operate wipers normally. 

    OK: REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH) 

    NG: GO TO Next Step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the K22 combination switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance and voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K22-5 (E) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

      Standard voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K22 - 1 (B) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  3. CHECK RESISTANCE OF COMMUNICATION LINE

    1. Disconnect the K22 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the K68 ECU connector.
    3. Disconnect the 1X junction block connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K22-6 (MPX1) - K68-21 (MPX2) Below 1 Ω
      K22-7 (MPX2) - 1X-5 Below 1 Ω

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE CHART

      Result Proceed to
      Both are OK A
      One is OK B
      Both are NG C

    B: REPAIR OR REPLACE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH AND WIRE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    C: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    A: REPLACE COMBINATION SWITCH (WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH)
