Inspection Procedure

HINT:

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Clear the DTC (see FAIL-SAFE CHART  ).
    2. Turn the power switch OFF.
    3. Turn the power switch ON (IG) again and check that no CAN communication system DTC is output.
    4. Turn the power switch ON (READY).
    5. Drive the vehicle and turn the steering wheel to the right and left at a speed of 24 mph (35 km/h), and check which DTC is output (see DTC CHECK / CLEAR  and BC-56).

      Result

      Only DTC C1777 is output A
      CAN communication system DTC is output B
      Steering angle sensor DTC is output (Brake control system trouble code C1231/31) C

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR INPUT VOLTAGE) 
    1. Disconnect the K19 steering angle sensor connector.
    2. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K19-1 (IG) - K19-2 (ESS) Power switch ON (IG) 10 to 14 V
    4. Turn the power switch OFF.
    5. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K19-2 (ESS) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
