Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
  • When replacing the absorber control ECU, check the acceleration sensor signal after replacement (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE  ).
  • If the hybrid control ECU has been replaced, it is necessary to register the ECU (see REGISTRATION ).

HINT:

Check the condition of each related circuit connector before troubleshooting (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).

  1. CHECK DLC3 (TC VOLTAGE) 
    1. Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    2. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K16-13 (TC) - K16-4 (CG) Power switch ON (IG) 10 to 14 V
    3. Turn the power switch OFF.
    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K16-4 (CG) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG:  GO TO step  4

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DLC3 - HYBRID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the A54 hybrid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A54-63 (TC) - K16-13 (TC) Below 1 Ω
      K16-13 (TC) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TC TERMINAL CIRCUIT) 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  3. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (see FAIL-SAFE CHART  ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is not output (when troubleshooting in accordance with the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ) B
      DTC is output C

    B: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

    C: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    A: REPLACE ABSORBER CONTROL ECU 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DLC3 - HYBRID CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the A54 hybrid control ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A54-63 (TC) - K16-13 (TC) Below 1 Ω
      K16-13 (TC) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TC TERMINAL CIRCUIT) 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DLC3 - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K16-4 (CG) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (GND CIRCUIT) 

    OK: GO TO Next Step 

  6. CHECK DLC3 (TC TERMINAL INPUT) 
    1. Using SST, connect the terminals 13 (TC) and 4 (CG) of the DCL3.

      SST 09843-18040 

    2. Check that the engine and ABS warning lights are blinking.

      Result

      Warning lights are not blinking B

    B: REPLACE HYBRID CONTROL ECU 

    A: GO TO Next Step 

  7. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (see FAIL-SAFE CHART  ).
