Steering Column Assembly: Installation

- INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
- INSTALL HOSE CLAMP
- INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE
- Install the thrust stopper and sliding yoke to the steering column assembly.
- Install and temporarily tighten the bolt A.
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
- Install the steering column with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 25 N*m (260 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)
- Tighten the hose clamp.
- Connect the connectors.
- Install the steering column with the 4 nuts.
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN HOLE COVER SUBASSEMBLY
- Install the hole cover with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
- Install the hole cover with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL NO. 2 INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY TO STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
- INSTALL NO. 2 INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
- Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 intermediate shaft and control valve shaft.
- Install the bolt C.
Torque: 34 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf)
- Install the bolt B.
Torque: 34 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf)
- Install the bolt A.
Torque: 34 N*m (350 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf)
- INSTALL NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUST
- Install the No. 2 heater to register duct with the screw.
- INSTALL LH PANEL LOWER
- Install the panel with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL NO. 1 PANEL LOWER
- Install the panel with the screw.
- Connect the hood lock release lever and fuel lid release lever with the 4 screws.
- INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the cluster finish panel and connector.
- INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
- Install the cowl trim with the clip.
- INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
- INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- INSTALL COMBINATION SWITCH WITH SPIRAL CABLE
- Install the combination switch with the 3 screws.
- Connect the airbag connector.
- Connect the 5 connectors.
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER
- INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER
- Install the column cover with the 3 screws.
- CENTER SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
- Turn the cable counterclockwise by hand until it becomes harder to turn the cable.
- Rotate the cable clockwise about 2.5 turns to align the mark.
HINT:
The cable will rotate about 2.5 turns to either left or right of the center.
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
- Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.
- Install the steering wheel set nut.
Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf)
- Connect the connector.
- INSTALL STEERING WHEEL PAD ASSEMBLY NOTE:
- Never use airbag parts from another vehicle. When replacing parts, replace with new ones.
- Make sure the wheel pad is installed to the specified torque.
- If the wheel pad has been dropped, or there are cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the wheel pad with a new one.
- When installing the wheel pad, take care that the wirings do not interfere with other parts and are not pinched between other parts.
- Connect the connector.
- Connect the airbag connector.
- Install the pad after confirming that the circumference groove of the "torx" screw is caught on the screw case.
- Using a "torx" socket wrench, install the 2 "torx" screws.
Torque: 8.8 N*m (90 kgf*cm, 78 in.*lbf)
- Install the No. 2 and No. 3 steering wheel lower covers.
- CHECK STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
