Instrument Panel Safety Pad: Installation

  1. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Attach the 2 claws to install the instrument panel safety pad (with instrument panel reinforcement and steering column).
    2. Install the instrument panel safety pad with the 8 bolts, 2 caps and steering yoke bolt.

    3. Connect the connectors.

    4. Install the floor carpet.
  2. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 
    1. Attach the 6 claws to install the panel

  3. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
    1. Attach the claw and 2 clips to install the pillar garnish.
  4. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for RH side.

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the brace with the 2 nuts and 2 bolts.

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the brace with the bolt and nut.
    2. Install the tire pressure monitor receiver with the 2 bolts.

  7. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 
    1. Attach the 2 clips to install the console box.
    2. Install the 8 bolts and 4 screws.

  8. INSTALL NO. 3 BOX PANEL 
    1. Attach the 7 claws to install the panel
  9. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET

  10. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
      CAUTION: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
    2. Install the glove compartment door together with the airbag assembly.
    3. Install the 2 screws.
    4. Install the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf)

  11. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Attach the 3 clips and 2 claws to install the under cover.
  12. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY CENTER (w/ LEXUS Navigation System)

  13. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ LEXUS Navigation System) 
    1. Attach the 6 clips and 2 claws to install the panel garnish.

  14. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ LEXUS Navigation System) 
    1. Attach the 3 clips and 2 claws to install the safety pad garnish.

  15. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o LEXUS Navigation System) 
    1. Attach the 5 clips and 4 claws to install the safety pad garnish.
  16. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER CENTER

  17. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Attach the 6 clips to install the air conditioning control.

  18. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Attach the 6 clips and 4 claws to install the panel.

  19. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Attach the 4 claws to install the panel garnish.

  20. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connectors.
    2. Install the combination meter with the 4 screws.
  21. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  22. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  23. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER

  24. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Attach the 4 clips to install the panel.
  25. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  )

  26. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Attach the 4 Clips to install the safety pad.
    2. Install the 3 bolts.
    3. Connect the hood lock control cable and connectors.

  27. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 
    1. Attach the 3 claws to install the trim cover.

  29. INSTALL DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Connect the connector.
    2. Attach the 4 claws and 5 clips to install the door scuff plate.

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for RH side.

  31. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  )

  32. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (See  DISPOSAL  ) 
  33. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  34. INSTALL SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  35. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER 
  36. SET STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  37. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  38. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  39. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check the SRS warning light (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
