Steering Column Assembly: Inspection

  1. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (Tilt Motor) 
    1. Connect the positive battery terminal to terminal TIM+ (E80-1) and the negative battery terminal to terminal TIM- (E80-2) of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts up.

      OK: The steering wheel tilts up. 

    2. Connect the negative battery terminal to terminal TIM+ (E80-1) and the positive battery terminal to terminal TIM- (E80-2) of the tilt motor connector. Then confirm that the steering wheel tilts down.

      OK: The steering wheel tilts down.

  2. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (Telescopic Motor) 
    1. Disconnect connector A from the multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU.
    2. Connect the positive battery terminal to terminal TEM+ (A-2) and the negative battery terminal to terminal TEM- (A-6) of the telescopic motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column contracts.

      OK: The steering column contracts.

    3. Connect the negative battery terminal to terminal TEM+ (A-2) and the positive battery terminal to terminal TEM- (A-6) of the telescopic motor connector. Then confirm that the steering column extends.

      OK: The steering column extends.
