Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check that the brake warning light comes on when the parking brake is applied and goes off when it is released.

      OK: The brake warning light operates as specified above. 

    OK:  Go to step  3

    NG: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH 
    1. Remove the parking brake switch.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Switch connector - Switch body Shaft Is not pressed Below 1 Ω
      Switch connector - Switch body Shaft Is pressed 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - PARKING BRAKE SWITCH) 
    1. Disconnect the K46 display connector.

    2. Disconnect the A31 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K46-23 (PKB) - A31-1 Below 1 Ω
      K46-23 (PKB) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
