Light Control Rheostat: Inspection

  1. INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified condition
      1 (T) - Body ground Ignition switch ON, Taillight switch OFF → ON Below 1 V → 10 to 14 V

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION REFERENCE TABLE

      Tester Connection Condition Specified condition
      5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Check the resistance between terminal 4 (RV) and terminal 3 (T) when operating the light control rheostat volume knob. Also, check that the resistance changes continuously.

      Standard resistance:

      Turn the knob to maximum:

      Approx. 10 kΩ

      Turn the knob to minimum:

      Approx. 0 kΩ
