On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. CHECK OIL QUALITY 
    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning

      If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil and filter (See OIL AND OIL FILTER )

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL 
    1. Warm up and stop the engine, and then wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick low level mark and full level mark. If low, check for leaks and add oil up to the full level mark
      NOTE: Do not fill engine oil above the full level mark.
  3. CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE 
    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch (See OIL AND OIL FILTER )
    2. Install the oil pressure gauge with an adapter.
    3. Warm up the engine
    4. Measure the engine oil pressure

      Standard Oil Pressure 

      OIL PRESSURE SPECIFICATION

      Condition Specified Condition
      Idle 70 kPa (0 713 kgf/cm2 , 10.2 psi) or more
      2500 rpm 220 kPa (2.24 kgf/cm2 , 31.9 psi) or more

      If pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump (See INSPECTION )

    5. Install the engine oil pressure switch (See INSTALLATION ).
