Shift Lever Position Sensor: Removal

  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    NOTE:
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
    • After the power switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  4. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  6. SEPARATE OIL COOLER TUBE 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and separate the oil cooler tube.

  7. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Set the shift lever to the neutral position.
    2. Remove the nut, and separate the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

    2. Remove the nut, washer and transmission control shaft lever.

    3. Using a screwdriver, pry out the lock washer

    5. Remove the lock nut and lock washer.
    6. Remove the 2 bolts and park/neutral position switch.
