  1. INSPECT TIRE
    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      Standard cold tire inflation pressure

      COLD TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE SPECIFICATION

Tire size Front Pressure Rear Pressure
      245/40 ZR 18 230 kPa (2.3 kgf/cm2 , 33 psi)*1 310 kPa (3.1 kgf/cm2 , 45 psi)*2
      HINT:
      • *1: When driving under 180 km/h (112 mph)
      • *2: When driving at 180 km/h (112 mph) or over
  2. INSPECT VEHICLE HEIGHT
NOTE: Before inspecting the wheel alignment, adjust the vehicle height to the specification.
    1. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension, and measure the vehicle height.

      Standard vehicle height (unloaded vehicle)

      VEHICLE HEIGHT SPECIFICATION (UNLOADED VEHICLE)

      Tire Size Front*1 Rear*2
      245/40 ZR 18 232 mm (9.13 in.) 209 mm (8.22 in.)
      HINT:
      *1: Front measuring point
Measure from the ground to the center of the lower suspension arm mounting bolt.
      *2: Rear measuring point
Measure from the ground to the center of the suspension lower No. 2 arm mounting bolt.

If the vehicle height is not as specified, adjust the height by pressing down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.

  3. INSPECT TOE-IN

    Standard toe-in (unloaded vehicle):

    TOE-IN SPECIFICATION (UNLOADED VEHICLE)

    Item Specified Condition
    Toe-in (total) A + B: 0°09' +-12' (0.10° +-0.2°)
    C - D: 1.0 +-2 mm (0.06 +-0.08 in.)

If the toe-in is not as specified, adjust it at the rack ends.

  4. ADJUST TOE-IN
    1. Release the boot clips.
    2. Loosen the tie rod end lock nuts.
    3. Turn the left and right rack ends an equal amount to adjust the toe-in.

      HINT:

      • Try to adjust the toe-in to the center value.
      • Make sure that the lengths of the left and right rack ends are approximately the same. Rack end length difference: 1.5 mm (0.059 in.) or less

    4. Tighten the tie rod end lock nuts.

      Torque: 56 N*m (570 kgf*cm, 41 ft.*lbf)

    5. Place the boot on the seat and clamp it.

      HINT:

Make sure that the boots are not twisted.

    6. Perform the VSC system calibration (see CALIBRATION ).
  5. INSPECT WHEEL ANGLE
    1. Turn the steering wheel fully, and measure the turning angle.

      Standard wheel angle (unloaded vehicle)

      WHEEL ANGLE SPECIFICATION (UNLOADED VEHICLE)

Inside Wheel Angle Outside Wheel Angle (Reference)
      36°44' (35°44' to 38°44')
      36.73°(35.73° to 38.73°)
      30°48' (30.8°)

If the angles are not as specified, inspect the toe-in.

  6. INSPECT CAMBER, CASTER AND STEERING AXIS INCLINATION
    1. Place the front wheels on the center of the alignment tester.
    2. Install the camber-caster-steering axis inclination gauge or position vehicle on wheel alignment tester.
    3. Inspect the camber, caster and steering axis inclination.

      Standard (unloaded vehicle):

      ITEM INCLINATION

      Item Inclination
      Camber
      Right-left error
      - 0°35' +-45' (-0.58° +-0.75°)
      30' (0.5°) or less
      Caster
      Right-left error
      7°55' +-45' (7.92° +-0.75°)
      30' (0.5°) or less
      Steering axis
      Right-left error
      9°10' +-45' (9.16° +-0.75°)
      30' (0.5°) or less

If the camber and caster are not as specified, adjust them.

If the steering axis inclination is not as specified after the camber and caster have been correctly adjusted, check the steering knuckle and front wheel for distortion or looseness.

  7. ADJUST CAMBER
    1. Loosen the camber adjusting cam nut of the lower suspension arm.
    2. Turn the camber adjusting cam of the lower suspension arm and adjust camber.

      HINT:

      • The camber changes about 5' (0.08°) with each graduation of the adjusting cam.
      • Try adjusting the camber to the center value of the specification.
