Air Conditioning: Condenser: Installation

  1. INSTALL COOLER DRYER 
    1. Using pliers, install the cooler dryer.

    2. Apply a sufficient amount of compressor oil to the contact surfaces of a new O-ring and the cap.

      Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent 

    3. Install the O-ring to the cap.

    4. Using a 14 mm socket hexagon wrench, install the cap to the modulator.

      Torque: 4.1 N*m (42 kgf*cm, 36 in.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL COOLER CONDENSER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the cooler condenser with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

  3. CONNECT LIQUID TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the tube and the connecting part of the cooler condenser.
    2. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the tube joint.

      Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent 

    3. Install the O-ring to the cooler refrigerant liquid tube.
    4. Install the cooler refrigerant liquid tube to the cooler condenser with the bolt.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

    NOTE:
    • When tightening the bolt, do not allow any tools to contact the tube.
    • When tightening the bolt, hold a part of the tube near the connector.

  4. CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the hose and the connecting part of the cooler condenser.
    2. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the hose joint.

      Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent 

    3. Install the O-ring to the cooler refrigerant discharge hose.

    4. Install the cooler refrigerant discharge hose to the cooler condenser with the bolt.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

    NOTE:
    • When tightening the bolt, do not allow any tools to contact the hose.
    • When tightening the bolt, hold a part of the hose near the connector.
  5. INSTALL RADIATOR UPPER SUPPORT 
    1. Attach the wire harness to the upper support with the 5 clamps.

    2. Install the upper support with the 5 bolts.

      Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)

    3. Attach the 2 clamps to the radiator support LH and RH side.
    4. Connect the 3 connectors.

  6. INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER 
    1. Install the cover with the 3 screws and attach the claw.

  8. INSTALL MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System) 
    1. Install the sensor with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connector.

  9. INSTALL ECM OUTLET DUCT  (See CONDENSER )
  10. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  12. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  13. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER 
    1. w/ Intuitive Parking Assist System:

      Connect the No. 4 engine room main wire connector.

    2. Connect the 2 fog light connectors.
    3. Attach the 6 claws to install the front bumper cover as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

    4. Attach the clip to install the bumper seal bracket.

      HINT:

      Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

    5. Install the 8 screws.

  14. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER LH 
    1. Install the 2 clips.
  15. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

  16. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL OPENING EXTENSION PAD LH 
    1. Install the extension pad with the 3 screws.

  22. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  23. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  24. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  25. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  26. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  27. ADD COMPRESSOR OIL  (See REPLACEMENT )
  28. CHARGE REFRIGERANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  29. WARM UP ENGINE  (See REPLACEMENT )
  30. CHECK FOR LEAKAGE OF REFRIGERANT  (See REPLACEMENT )
  31. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
    NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
