Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

      Body No. 4 

      BODY NO. 4 DATA LIST

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Tail Light Tr States of taillight/OK or Break OK: Taillight circuit is normal
      Break: Taillight circuit is malfunctioning
      Confirm that headlight dimmer switch is ON (TAIL or HEAD)
      Stop Light Tr States of stop light/OK or Break OK: Stop light circuit is normal
      Break: Stop light circuit is malfunctioning
      Confirm that brake pedal is pressed
      High Mount Stop Light Tr States of high mount stop light/ OK or Break OK: High mount stop light circuit is normal
      Break: High mount stop light circuit is malfunctioning
      Confirm that brake pedal is pressed

      Result: 

      RESULT CHART

      Result Proceed to
      Item (TAIL LGT Tr.) displays "Break" on the Techstream A
      Item (STOP LGT Tr.) displays "Break" is on the Techstream B
      Item (H-M STP LGT Tr.) displays "Break" on the Techstream C
      All items display "OK" on the Techstream D

      B:  Go to step  4

      C:  Go to step  6

      D:  Go to step  8

      A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TAILLIGHT AND LICENSE PLATE LIGHT) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: Rear combination light (LH, RH), rear light (LH, RH), license plate light.
    2. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

      D: REPLACE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: rear junction block ECU connector S63, S64.
    2. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (STOP LIGHT) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order; rear combination light (LH, RH), rear light (LH, RH).
    2. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

      HINT:

      Disconnect the RH connector, then the LH connector. If the display changes to "Normal", it can be determined that the disconnected light is malfunctioning.

      B: REPLACE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      C: REPLACE REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL   ) 

      A: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: rear junction block ECU connector S63, S64.
    2. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

    1. Disconnect the connectors in the following order: Center stop light.
    2. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

    2. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LICENSE PLATE LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S37 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S63-15 (LCE2) - S37-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      S37-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-15 (LCE2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

      OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S33 and S41 light connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      S63-14 (TIL3) - S33-2 (11 P) Always Below 1 Ω
      S63-4 (STP3) - S33-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω

  10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S64 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S51 and S52 light connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance: 

      for LH 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      S64-3 (TIL2) - S51-3 (TL) Always Below 1 Ω
      S64-9 (STP2) - S51-1 (STP) Always Below 1 Ω

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CENTER STOP LIGHT - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S62 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the S20 light connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      S62-6 (STP4) - S20-1 (B) Always Below 1 Ω
      S20-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      OK: REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)
