Propeller Shaft Assembly: Disassembly

  1. REMOVE PROPELLER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT 
    1. Put matchmarks on the intermediate shaft and propeller shaft.
    2. Disconnect the intermediate shaft and propeller shaft.

      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the spline.
    3. Remove the adjusting nut from the intermediate shaft.
    4. Remove the dust boot from the propeller shaft.

      HINT:

      If the dust boot is to be reused, remove it after wrapping vinyl tape around the spline, so it will not be damaged.

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a snap ring expander, remove the snap ring.

    2. Using SST and a press, press out the center support bearing and No. 2 dust deflector.

    3. Using SST and a press, press out the No. 1 dust deflector.
